New River Hundreds of residents were forced to evacuate the New River Village Development after the building endured severe flooding. Four months later, the residents have returned to their homes, but the building is not yet fully repaired. Those living in the flats are still suffering from the damages caused by the flood waters.
Damage  Despite efforts put forth by both the Council and Thames Water, New River is still significantly damaged. Water Damage  A week after the flood, loss adjusters predicted that the development would take about six weeks to dry out. New River  Four months ago, residents of the New River Village Development were evacuated due to flood damage. Resident  New River residents, who were allowed to move back into the development two days after being evacuated, are living in sub-par conditions. Outdoor Damage  Although the flats were only built in 2005, residents said that they believed problems were inevitable. Support  The Council has offered continuous support and Thames Water has promised to cover the cost of damages as well as any expenditure residents encountered as a result of the evacuation. The Flats  Even after four months, the flats still reflect the devastating effects of the flood. Recent Fire  The New River Flats suffered even further damage on Thursday, April 5, 2007 when one of the flats caught fire. |
