REAL Madrid midfielder Ruben De la Red has ruled out a move away from the club.

The talented youngster has reportedly become a target for Spurs, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Sevilla and Valencia after an impressive season on loan at Getafe last term.

Although Madrid were thought to be keen on using the 23-year-old as bait in any potential swap deal, it appears head coach Bernd Schuster would now like to give the playmaker a chance to impress in his team.

And De la Red - who has was part of the triumphant Spain squad in Euro 2008 - is looking to use the opportunity to knuckle down and try to win favour at the Bernabeu.

"A title like that or a medal will never give a spot as a starter on a team like Real Madrid," De la Red told Real's offical website.

"This only comes by training hard in every session and playing well in every game. It is useless to live from the past."

However, De la Red has not entirely ruled out a move to the Premier League.

He added: "It’s always nice when your work is acknowledged by important English and Spanish clubs - it means you are making progress and that you’re on the right track. It helps me want to do even better.

"I haven’t shut the door to any club. I like the Premiership and how people live the matches over there.

"Sevilla and Valencia are great sides, but I have chosen to stay at Real Madrid and that is my priority.

"I have great hopes for having a great season and becoming important for the team. Nevertheless, if I was told to leave tomorrow I would have to go."
