Bookmaker backs Spurs for top five finish

4:42pm Tuesday 8th July 2008

TOTTENHAM are set for a top five finish and UEFA Cup qualification this season, if the latest odds are anything to go by.

Spreadex, a spread betting firm, has published what they believe will be the Premier League table when the season ends in May.

And they have Juande Ramos' men as the leading team outside of the 'big four' - although they believe the gap will a huge 11 points.

A fifth-place finish would be seen as a success by Spurs, having ended last season in an extremely disappointing 11th.

The signings of Luka Modric, Giovani dos Santos and Heurelho Gomes have raised expectations at White Hart Lane.

And with the club rumoured to be interested in several other world class names - a finish outside of the top six would be deemed a failure.

The Lilywhites are predicted to gain 61 points, an improvement of 15 points from last term and a point better than the 2006/07 season when they last finished in fifth spot.
